I need documented proof of income tax reference number - not IRP 5 or salary slip. Where do I get this? I need this for retirement papers.

You will be able to use your latest tax assessment (ITA34) or your statement of account as proof of tax reference number. These documents would have been emailed to you once you submitted your tax return on SARS efiling. You can also retrieve these documents from SARS efiling: Tax return assessment (ITA34) Step 1: Log in to your SARS efiling profile Step 2: Select returns History (Left of page) Step 3: Select Personal income tax (ITR12) on the dropdown Step 4: Select the latest tax return (Open) Step 5: Scroll down and select the ITA34 (92)   SARS statement of account:  Step 1:  Log in to your SARS efiling profile Step 2: Select SARS correspondence  Step 3: Select Request Historic IT Notices on the dropdown Step 4: Tick the box next to "I want to request a Statement of Account" then select NEXT Step 5: Tick the box next to "6 months to date" then select REQUEST.
