What expenses can he claim on to get a refund back from SARS?

hI TIM,I HAVE A CLIENT WHO HAS WORKED AS AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR AND PAYE HAS BEEN DEDUCTED FROM HIM IN TOTAL OF ABOUT R150,000.Can he claim on petrol expenses and travel expense if he does not have a travel allowance?

Yes he can, as long as his source code on his IRP5 is 3616.
