I have a savings account with R40,000 with interest of 1,991. 28 this financial year. Does this need to be declared and if so where does it go on the tax form.

Yes, you would include it under the Interest Income section for local interest. Please Register for TaxTim and let us assist you in completing and submitting your return to SARS.
