As of July 2013 SARS declared it illegal for anyone other than a registered tax practitioner to assist people with doing their tax returns. Unless the person you know is a tax practitioner, them doing your tax return can lead to trouble for both of you.
This year try TaxTim - our service offers the knowledge and expertise of a trained tax professional, with an easy-to-use friendly interface.

I'm sorry you are having trouble registering at the SARS eFiling website. Does your password qualify for all the rules stated?
1. Don't use names, surnames, pet names of family members, friends or pets, birthdays, anniversaries, or common phrases. 2. Spaces are not allowed at the beginning and end of passwords. 3.Your password has to be at least 6 characters long. 4. Must contain at least one lower case letter, one upper case letter, one digit and one of these special characters ~!@#$%^&*()_+.
Are you using just one of the special characters, or several? Try a completely different password that satisfies all of the above and maybe it will work again.

The login and password I used last year don't seem to be valid any more. What do I do?

You would need to request that SARS resets both the username and password, you can do this on eFiling by answering a few recovery questions. Otherwise contact 0800 00 7277 to ask someone to do this for you.
