I would like to find out whether I can claim antenatal multivitamins and non-script items as part of medical expenses not covered by medical aid? I have been buying these since the beginning of the year and I was just wondering that since I use them for medical purposes would I be able to claim them. Kindly assist as I am very much confused. I heard somewhere that one is able to claim medical expenses from SARS, but I am not sure which expenses can be claimed. I tried looking for the list of medical expenses which I can claim, but I could not find it.

Unfortunately, you may not claim these items as it is not included in the allowable medical expense list that is mentioned in the income tax act. You can however claim for any blood tests, gynecologist visits and other specialists if your medical aid did not cover it already or if they only covered part of the bills.
