Non-prescription medication - is it tax deductible for over 75's?

May taxpayers over 75 years of age deduct over the counter/ non-prescription medication from tax?

Taxpayers over the age of 75 may deduct all medical expenditure which qualifies, however non-prescription medication does not qualify. If you can get a doctor to write a script for you then you would be able to claim this expense.
