Where on my ITR12 would I add "Child Maintenance" which was received from my ex-husband as his contribution to the care and maintenance of his two children. As he would have already paid tax on this income, I believe would be non-taxable.

May you please explain to me clearly what the question below states: 'were any payments made to a pension fund during this tax year for the tax years prior to 2013. Is information needed for code 4001 same as the one for code 4002?

I did freelance work through my company, but it was paid in as my salary, so not recognized as freelance work and means I'm unable to claim any expenses. Can I claim the laptop I bought and used to work from home on as a business expense?
Did not work full year, but IRP5 indicates that I worked 12 months. How do I correct this?

I went on maternity leave for a full four months mind February 2012 - Mid June 2012. I was paid for the first two months and then unpaid for the remaining two months. In my IRP5 : Periods in year of assessment is 12 and no. of periods worked is 12. I believe this is incorrect. Do I correct this and say I worked 8 months? What is the correct information to put in this case?

I have a full time job. Over the past year I have also taken on part time work over weekends. I have heard that this tax can be claimed back provided I do not fall in the next tax bracket. Please explain how to do this.

I am employed by the government. I do not receive medical aid subsidy. I do however get a tax rebate. Do I still qualify for the tax credit? If so, how do I go about claiming it? Also, does the tax credit mean that we can no longer claim medical expenses not covered by the medical aid for which we pay cash?

Hi TaxTim,
I earn a basic and my commission is more than 50% of my annual basic. I sell luxury automobiles for a living.
I see on my IRP5 under "Income received "an amount of R65 000 "Use of Motor Vehicle" (PAYE)
Is there a specefic place where I insert this amount on my tax return?
I kept a logbook stipulating opening,closing KM'S, private and business KM'S

Just want to make sure if the 50% rule is still in place regarding commission income? The same as 2011/2012? Meaning your Commission income must be 50% more than other income to claim any expenses against commission.

Hi Team, My Total medical aid contribution for myself and 2 depandants is R2072. My company pays R1211 and I pay R674 deducted from my salary and I receive a R230 med aid tax credit. Is the R230 the correct amount for 2 depandants? and can I claim back the R674 that I pay from salary every month?
