I live in SA and have a property in the UK that I rent out. Do I pay tax on the rental income in the UK or in SA? I know I have to declare my worldwide income but just wondering in terms of the Double Tax treaty - in which country do I physically pay the tax?

I recently did my return for 2012 on SARS App via my ipad on the 3rd of June 2014. The return went through correctly and SARS owes me R6576. They (SARS) sent me a letter back but I cannot read or action it because Apple does not have a flash player. What do I do? I cannot read the contents of the letter.

I am a South African but I have been living and working in Thailand for almost 4 years, and thus pay no tax in SA. I only visit SA for about 20 days a year.

I recently married an Australian and we want to open a fixed-deposit account in SA to make use of favourable interest rates.

If we both continue to live and work in Thailand, do we need to pay tax on the interest earned on that account? It will be about R100 000 per year.

A client has broken his fingers and cannot perform his work commitments as a personal trainer and actor. He is trading as a sole proprietor. First question is, will he be taxed on his payout for impaired benefits from his insurance company? Secondly, what supporting documents need to be submitted to the insurance company for this payout? Thirdly, what expenses can be deducted from a client who is either a model/actor that is paid via an agent?

When I was a student, I worked for a corporate (twice - 2012/2013, and 2013/2014) and paid SARS income tax on the money I earned. Can I reclaim this money?I do not have the pay slip, but I do have the IRP5 forms. Even though it is about 24 months later, can I still reclaim it? Are students required to pay tax?

What do I do if I don't have a tax reference number but have been working for a few years?
The company I was first employed to took my documents to register at SARS, however I left a little while after that. Now at my new employer, 2 years later, I notice that my tax number is missing from my IRP5.
It seems I have not been registered. I have not filed taxes since then however I am on PAYE and tax is deducted monthly.
Am I in big trouble?

Could I submit my tax now I already recieve my IRP5 or is there a waiting period?
