I've submitted my tax return and I'm due a refund, without any audit done. However, SARS said I need to delete two of my three banking details as they wouldn't know where to pay the refund. On the correct banking details it has a status 'Outgoing', is this fine or should I continue to delete the old banking details? And will this delay the refund due to me?
I'm a commission earner. I joined a company in January and I didn't earn any commission from January to 28 February. My previous IRP5 shows me working at that previous company for 10 months. Do I need an IRP5 with zero income on it for the 2 months at the new company? Would anything need to be submitted to show that I was employed for the 10 months at the first company and 2 months at the present company = the full 12 Months? Also, does the new company have to upload anything so that...
I made a tax deductible donation in the previous tax year, but the amount was over the allowable 10% deduction limit (as reflected in my ITA34). Will the excess amount be automatically added to the new tax year as an add-back, or do I need to add the excess amount to the current years tax deductible donations?
I submitted my 2016 tax return using my actual cost on my travel expenses. How can I have it changed to fixed cost as my business travel was about 16000km whilst my actual cost was only R399.00? My tax return was audited by SARS and I've disputed on these grounds several times as well as gone to SARS twice. I've been told that it's possible to have this changed and the consultant at SARS has requested it be done on their system but no change so far. The latest statement still reflects only R217,...
I live in Australia and work for a South African Company I did submit my tax return on time, but I'm still waiting for my refund. They told me that I should visit the nearest SARS branch as there is a special stopper on my account, but there's no SARS branches in Australia - do you know of an alternative solution?
My employers incorrectly submitted my 2016 tax return with a code of 3601 instead of 3616. I'm a contractor with a fixed term contract and end dates and receive no company benefits. They refuse to submit an EMP601 correction which SARS has asked for, I think they are concerned they will be audited. I am therefore having to pay a tax bill. Is there anything I can do?
I work from home and make approximately R25000/month. I don't do much traveling and I manage everything from my desk. I service one company only- I'm basically working for myself. They don't cover any tax etc. and I receive this payment monthly. What's the best way to deal with the Tax?
On my 2016 tax return SARS says that I owe them money. I think that this isn't accurate as I was with a full time employer and I'm sure that they took care of all my tax issues. Is it too late to resubmit a tax return for 2016 via TaxTim?
How do I make an application for suspension of tax after filing an objection? I MISSED THAT OPPORTUNITY WHEN SUBMITTING MY OBJECTION. Is there any way that I can now submit an application by SARS eFile or email?
I had freelance jobs and although I don't own my own business/am not registered as a business. All but one of the freelance jobs were taxed. Should I register as a provisional tax payer? If so, how do I go about doing this and what deductions can I make? e.g. Can I claim for Uber trips, cellphone bills, wear and tear on my equipment (computer, camera) etc? If I can claim for things like this, how do I go about doing it?
SARS has audited me and it was found that I owe them money. My tax is a mess and I'm wondering if it can get sorted out. I barely receive any money back from SARS. Something seems to be wrong with my tax returns.
I bought shares in a private company (cost me 100k). We have now sold the company in full and my portion of the payout is 80k (i. e. 20k loss). Can I claim tax back on this amount? And if so, what do I need to do it?
SARS didn't accept my log books, my 2015 tax return, there's zero KMs for business use. I now need to object and they require proof of ownership- I have documents from Wesbank. Lastly, can I do this via TaxTim or must I go into SARS?
I make annual lump sum contributions to my RA. In order for my annual lump sum contribution to qualify for tax deductions for the current year, do I only need to make the payment for my RA before the end of February, or does my financial advisor need to have allocated the funds to my RA before the deadline? i.e. Can I still make a contribution at 23:59:59 on 28 February 2017 which will count towards the 2016/2017 tax year?
I'm doing my provisional tax return and received a severance payments during the year as part of a voluntary retrenchment. My employer applied for a tax directive which was successful and I received the lump sum pay-out with the tax benefits associated on the sliding scale. How do I deal with this in my provisional tax return? If I enter the severance payment gross amount, the SARS eFiling system calculates taxes on it using the normal tax tables (it gets calculated at the highest marginal rate...
