Accepted auto assess forgot my travel logbook

What will happen if I already accepted my auto assessment, but I have done so without submitting my travel log book, am I able to fix this myself, what should I do? Am I correct in saying that I would need to request some sort of correction on eFiling and how would I go about doing this? How and where on the eFiling system should I go to get the request for correction?

SARS still need more information from me?

I have submitted my supporting documents directly to SARS as per their request, but somehow it seems like they still need something more from my side? Can you please assist me regarding this as I am very much confused. I initially thought that I have submitted all the documents which they need and now they are back asking for more.

Auto Assess and Travel expenses

I have received a sms, stating that my tax has been assessed automatically, and that a refund is due of R7000,00 however I do not know if my travelling has been taken into account as I have not sent anything yet. Could you help me in clarifying this matter. Should I accept it as it is, would this not have an impact on my tax return to SARS when I do finally submit it?

SARS discrepancy sms

I got a sms from SARS reviewing discrepancies identified between 3rd party (TaxTim) and my last Income Tax tax return. Also they are advising me that I should ensure that the information is captured correctly. My information is captured by Sanlam and assume it is correct. Please advise what the discrepancy could be? And why do they mention the word "discrepancy"?

I received an auto assessment sms from SARS

SARS has sent me an SMS saying they have calculated my assessment tax and I can accept or edit this. I have done an early tax return with TaxTim and I'm not sure what to do now as I cannot submit that tax return until 1 September.

What does SARS mean by auto-assessment?

I saw something in a news article about SARS issuing auto-assessments this year from 1 August. I tried to research but couldn't find much and this is all very new to me. Please can you explain what this is? Are there any new changes which I need to be aware moving forward? I have been filing my own tax return for the past years, but I hear that I might not need to do so this year.

What must I do with the auto-assessment from SARS?

I received an SMS from SARS which says something about an auto-assessment. When I login to eFiling I see there is an option to accept or edit it. Are there any risks involved with accepting it? What should I look out for? Please help, I know nothing about this new SARS process.

Why am I getting auto-assessed? Where is my tax return?

I received an auto-assessment from SARS but I am confused what this means. Why have I been selected by SARS and how did SARS get my data? Can I still submit a tax return if I want to?

Will I get a tax refund if I accept the SARS auto-assessment?

My auto-assessment shows that I am due a tax refund. Can this be correct? Do you think I will receive the refund if I accept it, or should I rather reject it and file a tax return?

Why am I being auto-assessed on SARS eFiling?

I received an auto-assessment from SARS. My husband did not receive the SMS but my friend also received an SMS saying she has been auto-assessed. Why have SARS introduced this new process? Why are there some being auto-assessed and not others?

SARS sent me an SMS about auto-assessment? Is this legit?

I received an SMS from SARS which mentioned something about an auto-assessment. I have not heard of this before. I don't trust anyone these days, and because of that I just want to ensure that this is legit - do you think this is a scam?

Difference between Vat and Tax numbers

What is the difference between a VAT registration number and a tax reference number. When do I use which one? Are they not the same thing?

Can I reject the SARS auto assessment and fill in my tax forms?

I received an auto-assessment from SARS and I am not certain how to work around it. What I do know is that I would prefer to complete a tax return as normal, like I usually did in the past years. Would this be possible? If I reject it, what will happen?

Individual Tax Consultation

In January 2018 I stopped working as a full time employee and for the 2018/2019 tax year I did various things (including foreign travel and work) and earned different kinds of incomes. I did not register as a provisional taxpayer as at that stage I really did not know how the year was going to pan out and if I was going back into full time employment again. I would like to settle any tax I may owe for the 2018/2019 year, however with my different incomes, working out the country for more than 18...

Shareholder Loan and own company

I have a loan with my company (payable from the company). I would like to know what the effects are that we need to consider regarding interest-free loans? I am aware that we can create a tax deduction for the company and I will have the interest exemption, but I feel there is something I'm missing?

Also if the shareholder already exceeded his R23k exemption, will it be fine if we do not levy any interest on this loan? Will there be any unknown tax consequences for that?

Tax deductions exceeds the tax paid

What happens if my Allowable Tax Deductions exceeds the tax paid in the same year. Logically I should only be able to claim back the actual tax paid? It will be Additional allowable Medical claims which will not be covered by the medical aid. These amounts plus smaller deductions will push the claims to over and above the tax payable amount.

First business tax submission date?

I have a Pty Ltd that was registered in February, the Provisional Tax payments must be made in April and October. SARS says I must make tax payments from the 2021 period. The date of liability for provisional tax: 2020/05. When, according to that, is the first time I have to submit tax reports, was it this past April 2020 already? Also, when is the "major" tax submission due, not the provisional one, but the annual one? I would like to do it with TaxTim as my company is small.

I was...

How to check available funds at SARS

If you have never filed for a tax return before, how do you go about checking if there are funds owed to you at SARS? I would like to start filing my tax return for this year as I have been unemployed for a long period, but now I am back in the workforce.

Voluntary sequestration and eFiling profile

I just had my voluntary sequestration of estate approved by the high court on the 24th of March 2020 and I now need a new tax number. SARS say I can do that through SARS eFiling and I would like to know how I can do this? The problem I have experienced with trying to register a new SARS eFiling profile is that after I input my name and ID number the system tells me to login with my existing profile number.

Provisional Tax and Rental Income

I have filed and completed the 2017 personal income tax for myself. I started receiving rental income from my property in March 2017. Where do I declare this income? Is it part of provisional tax and will I pay penalties for late submission?

Also,
1. The property is owned by myself and my wife. Will we both need to file tax returns for this Rental Income?
2. Does this mean a whole new tax return must be submitted, or is it only necessary to complete the IRP6?

Company Income Tax Due date

My company was registered in April 2019 with a year end in July 2019. I submitted a provisional tax return in August 2019. When is the Company Income Tax tax return due? I have checked my tax compliance and it says that my 1901 tax submission is not compliant but my understanding is that my company wasn't registered then. So, should I submit a zero provisional tax return for 1901?

New company and tax forms

I have a new consulting firm and I completed an IRP6 twice, for the two SARS documents, as provisional tax. Note that on the said form there is no provision for any deductions of expenses to set-up my company.
I am not sure what to do next.

Do I need to complete a ITR12 form?. If so, where can I get this form? Currently, it does not show on my SARS e-filing, only the two completed IRP6 form are indicated.

Married in Community of Property

My wife and I got married last year on the 26th of March 2018. Foreign income with online forex trading

How one would declare Income/Loss that is derived from online forex trading. The trading account is in USD so I assume foreign income.

1. Where would one declare this income/loss with TaxTim/eFiling tax return under foreign income?
2. Is it necessary to declare if only a loss was made?
3. Can withdrawal fees/currency exchange and bank fees be deducted from overall profit.
4. What documentation would SARS require? The only documentation that can be acquired from the trading platform is trading history showing profit/loss but no tax certificates. ...

Tax on money held in offshore account?

I have an offshore transactional bank account into which I transferred cash into. To clarify, the currency is in Australian Dollars. Also, I do not earn any income on this account nor do I earn any income from abroad. With that said, the interest rate for this account is set at zero on the deposits made. What I would like to know is, would I in this case need to pay tax on any currency movements while the cash is in the account and if that is the case, how would this work if I make payments from...
