Great website, very helpful over the last couple of months.
I am busy filling in my ITR12, and I have a lot of deductions, ie depreciation etc, but when I enter my medical aid contributions, (paid by myself, R 1900 per month), and I calculate my tax return, it shows in the 4008 field R0.00. Please advise how to make this amount come in to account and how does the new tax credit work in my case? Lastly, re-imbursive travel expenses, how do I deduct this? I travel some times f...

Hi Tim, I submitted my tax return via e-filing and my banking had changed so I punched in the latest details and SARS put on an audit. I then submitted my IRP5, Bank Statement, Log Book, Medical Certificate of which are the only documents that I can claim for. The Efiling status shows - Correction Filed and and Statement of Account Balance: R -8383.55 and Statement of Account: Assessed Tax. I noticed my IRP5 had a new Code 4116 Medical Scheme Fees Tax Credit which I did put in my ITR12 amounting to R5520 as we are 2 Members of my medical aid. I then noticed in my ITA34 on the Assessment page under MEDICAL DEDUCTIONS under Code 4020 I am claiming R39597 for Medical Expenses not recovered from Medical BUT then under that in Description it shows;
Medical Tax Credits X4 -R22080.00
Q - My question is why its it showing X4 ?? as that amount would mean R5520 per 2 members per...
