I did my eFiling as usual,then I got a ITA34 which said that they owe me money, then they requested that I give them the supporting documents, which I handed in at the SARS offices. I phoned them after a couple of days because they said that I will receive a notification within 48 hours which I did not hence the reason for my call. I earn a basic salary on which PAYE is not payable, but I also earn commission sporadically on which I do pay PAYE. Do I have to pay PAYE on the total income earned or is it separate as the commission is not a set monthly income?

Medical Aid contributions on my tax return?

I am paying roughly R1 400 on a medical aid for myself and a spouse.
The payments are made through the company, but the full amount is deducted from my salary per month, and the company does not contribute any portion. Does this mean that I am paying the medical aid myself, and can claim as such, or does this mean that I cannot claim these amounts for a tax return?

I received a letter from SARS requesting me to submit supporting docs. I have unfortunately misunderstood the system and only submitted my medical aid tax form. I now have a Verification of assessment letter from SARS saying: VERIFICATION OF ASSESSMENT

I would like you to explain to me why people who work overtime get so little refunds. Ever since I've worked in 2008, I've been getting 24c - 27c as my returns. I have a med aid and my tax certificate yearly shows thay I've paid more than 3 000 out of my pocket. If you can just explain as to why's is it like that, is there something I'm soing wrong?

Would I be able to claim medical aid contributions if I don't have a medical aid tax certificate?
The medical aid no longer exists, and I have been unable to obtain a copy from them.

s10(1)(o)(ii) and once off-contracts

I will be fulfilling a contract overseas for more than 183 days and more than 60 continuous days. I meet these requirements of s10(1)(o)(ii), but I am unsure if the section applies to once-off contracts with an overseas company. The contract will last for more than 10 months however. Does this make me an independent contractor?

I'm getting confused with regard of submiting tax return. If you earn more then R63556 you to submit your return and on the other side if your remuneration is R250000 you may not subtmit a income tax return. Can you clarify that for me please?

Hi Tim, thank you for the great service. My basic salary is R20k, my employer pays R400 and I pay R1200 towards medical aid. I am the principal member with 1 dependant. I recently filed by return via eFiling and was selected for an audit or verification process. So SARS requires supporting documents from me. My question is when submitting these documents, do I only submit those documents pertaining to aspects that impacted the assessment (detailed under "Notes" at the end of the ITA34) because that's what I am assuming or do I have to submit all documentation? Accounts that medical aid did not pay, doctors fees as well, I have receipts of payments done out of my own pocket, how do I send those receipts using eFiling, without the stress of going to the SARS building itself?
