I have started a new job and have been told my salary will be R7000 a month, on top of this, they are saying that I am going to be taxed 18% per month. I am just a bit confused. . This seems very high for such a small salary. . . And then there comes the topic of rebates. I have been told that at the end of the tax year I can claim this back? My company taxes my Total Cost to Company which includes my pension fund contributions paid over. Example: CTC: R15 000 Pension: 750 Medical Aid: 1348 UIF: 147. 80 Tax: 1592. 25 Less Tax Credit: 257 Net Salary: 10 904. 95 The full R15 000 is taxed, they list all of the above as company contributions. Is this correct?

I have received a tax certificate from my previous employer. So this is my first time submiting to SARS. I received an sms stating that the amount due by me is R0,1 and I was selected for audit. On the certificate under 'income received' there is a substantial amount of over R50,000 under 'gross non-retirement fund income'. My question is what does that mean and will I be getting any thing.

I am a 49 year old UK citizen with a national health service pension and a private pension (SIPP). I am planning to emigrate to South Africa and (being married for 7 years to a South African Citizen) become a South African citizen. We plan to work and then retire in South Africa. I am retiring now on 63 First R500000 of Lump sum is tax free. If I ask my company to transfer balance of Lump sum that is R400000 to a Alan Gray living annuity. Will there be any tax deducted.
