In answer to a question I asked a few months ago regarding tax residency, you told me if I was relocating to RSA that I could delay becoming a tax resident of RSA for something like five years. I have permanent residency. Could you direct me to the relevant SARS literature. Thanks

Payment due to me as a refund from SARS

I received an sms, submitting my returns manually at the SARS branch,stating a negative balance due to me and 2 dates for payments. Late in the evening I received an sms about bank details verification. . . I havn't verified because the day I did my returns I was in the branch and handed the said documents(which were returned to me). The 1st payment date is today, must I wait for payment or is there anything I need to do before payment is made?

Hi, South African passport holders who stays in Mauritius but will be going back to SA after nearly 5 yrs. At the moment they are considered non-residents as they are in Mauritius for a period of more than 60days in a period of 6 months and they have not stayed in SA for more than 91days in a row in a tax year. Hi Tim,

Last year up to July I was paying into an RA with Provider A. I then transferred this to another RA provider B. An amount of R109k was transferred to the new RA after a few deductions. I received a tax doc from Provider A for my contributions up to July. I also received a tax doc for my contributions from new Provider B. Someone who mainly earns commission income, can she claim for corporate clothing and training. Also if she has not maintained a logbook accurately, can she claim motor vehicle expenses including fuel?

Change of jobs - how does this affect my tax?

I changed jobs during the tax year. Will this affect my tax return submissions? I resigned from a permanent position where I was only taxed UIF and I temped at a place for 4 months where UIF and PAYE was deducted. My salary also increased at temp job.

I want to set up an investment at the bank and earn interest on a monthly basis on it. I did some research and I found that I need to register for Provisional Tax at SARS in order to do this.
