Hi Tim, We used a False Vat Number but since then registered for VAT, we have amended all our invoices to the clients. What are the implications of using a temporary false vat number?
We have amended the invoices to not include vat until we get our VAT number, should we submit these to the clients and run the risk of having to pay back the VAT or should we wait till we receive our vat number and then re-submit the invoices with our new vat number on ? Please can you offer some advise ...

We only found out in April that our tax forms for 2010 and 2011 were not submitted so we did it and got a refund on that 2 years. So submitted the 2012 tax forms but on this one we own SARS money we paid it! So for 16 days we waited for the refund money we call them Friday and they said we need to bring them the deposit slip and we must pay the penelty before they can refund us, but by my understanding that penelty will be taken for the money that they own us or do we have to pay the penelty and...

I am a provisional taxpayer... I work freelance and my income fluctuates. I've been doing my own tax through efiling for several years now, and have never had a problem. So this year, I send off my return on January 29 (yes, I know, leaving it till the last minute... every year I
promise I won't do that!!), and my assessment comes back, I'm owed R120.56. The amount is so small because I actually already did all the calculations in order to make my third provisional payment by the September deadline, so as not to incur any interest....

So I figured out that my husband was registered for UIF and tax, but that he never filed an IRP5 to claim back.
His boss hasn't given him a raise in 3 years. I complained and after a lot of fighting and him wanting my husband gone...I think he was making an example out of him, he gave him a raise of...R200!!! It was supposed to go up with the new financial year since 2010, but nothing!
Is what his boss doing legal? He says he can't afford to pay more, but he just bought a h...

I have recently returned from overseas and I'm planning to stay in South Africa. I'm about to start teaching online for a Taiwanese company and will be taxed 18% in Taiwan if I make more than $893 with them (which I plan to do). I just want to know if I have to pay tax here in SA on that income. It seems a bit harsh to pay 18% and then another x% here at home. Is this going to be unavoidable? The amount in my bank account every month should be between R7 000 and R10 000. If I have to pay full taxes on that, I was thinking of keeping back about 25%, but I first want to find out whether there are any lenience I can get since I'm already taxed in Taiwan....
