Hi there, my wife is due a refund, after following up with SARS they said she needs to submit a return for 2009. The problem as you advised in your article (https://www. Taxtim. Com/za/blog/sars-isnt-paying-my-refund-they-want-my-old-returns) is that there is zero chance of acquiring those old documents now. Is her only option a police affadavit?
How does she submit a return on eFiling, when there is no record of it on there? (This is what SARS said she must do. . . )
Can you submit a nil return for older years, even if she obviously was employed but there is tax documentation?...

I submitted my tax return for 2015, I then went back and removed the actual values for repairs and maintenance for my vehicle as I do not have proof of all the records like my insurance, I only have proof of the fuel and maintenance. I then went to my 2014 return and requested a correction as I wanted the the values removed for the cost of my repair expenses. I made these changes on the 1 st of July 2015 and as per usual, I was selected for an audit. According to the call center, they have all t...

I submitted by tax return via SARS eFiling on 7 July 2015. On 9 July 2015 I checked what progress had been made only to find a letter stating that they require documentation for review. My employer does not pay my medical aid, I pay the total contribution myself. I submitted the IRP5 again as well as my medical aid tax certificate and RA tax certificate. I have not even claimed to medical expenses I paid out of my own pocket. Every time I call them, I am told that they are still busy with the au...

Hi. My wife earned investment income and a salary last year. This year, she's now stayed at home with our daughter, and thus hasn't earned a salary - thus significantly less taxable income. For the first provisional tax payment, do I have to use the basic amount (i. E. Last year's taxable income) to calculate this payment? The payment will then end up being more than her annual tax is expected to be, as there is obviously no salary (and no corresponding PAYE). Or can I safely estimate a lower am...
