Hi Tim, Before I start a Tax Return I need to ask a few questions. I currently am working in the UK. I started in July 2014 to date. I submitted a tax return in SA for the 2013/2014 tax year, but my last income was January 2013 (paid tax on a Pension/provident fund early cash out for this period). I keep a current address, and still have a bank account, and assets such as a car, etc in SA. I do not own property. Under what circumstances would I be required to submit a tax return in SA, and if so...

I get income through three sources:
- Salary
- Rental Income
- Affiliate Advertising Income
This year, I filled in my tax return (using TaxTim) indicating that I am (or should be a provisional taxpayer). However, my rental made a loss after all expenses and my affiliate income was really small for the year (less than R5,000 after expenses). I received the following from SARS in my ITA34 for 2015 tax season:
"According to the information you declared in your income tax return, you were liable to pay provisional tax for this year of assessment...

Hi, I submitted my tax return this year 2015 and they owe me a refund, only to be asked for 2011 tax returns and 2013, 2014 when I filed I was not asked for 2011 tax return and I was paid refunds, when I check 2011 tax return on SARS eFiling it is black and I refreshed it still black. October 2011 I resigned, and joined another company that is the year my tax return is blank. And the company I resigned from I now merged with the other company and changed the trading name. I have decided to cash in my Pension Pot in the UK (I was 55 years old in 2014 and therefore can retire) - I have been paid out UK Pound amount 47843 of which tax of UK Pound 19977 was deducted. I now need to recover this tax from the UK and then submit same to SARS. My query is therefore:
1. I need to complete UK/SA double taxation form to apply for relief of income tax at source ie UK and claim back my tax
2. I need to submit??? to SARS for them to calculate tax owed by me - I would however need help with this so as to understand how much tax will be owed (would be interested to know what conversion rate will be used by SARS in the calculation)...

I submitted my tax returns via eFiling, I also claimed for travel expenses refunds on 2 vehicles my tax returns were selected for verification by auditors who are now requesting for copies of purchase agreement for both vehicles. I have contacted the bank to request for the copy of my old vehicle as I no longer have one, they told me the document has been archived and promised to send it through as soon as they have access to the file. I have waited without receiving the document is there an al...
