I received a letter from SARS requesting me to submit supporting docs. I have unfortunately misunderstood the system and only submitted my medical aid tax form. I now have a Verification of assessment letter from SARS saying: VERIFICATION OF ASSESSMENT
We refer to the verification of your assessment for the 2013 tax period. Please note that no adjustment has been made to this assessment. However, in terms of the Tax Administration Act the South African Revenue Service reserves the right to conduct further reviews in future if required....

I recently filed by return via eFiling and was selected for an audit or verification process. So SARS requires supporting documents from me. My question is when submitting these documents, do I only submit those documents pertaining to aspects that impacted the assessment (detailed under "Notes" at the end of the ITA34) because that's what I am assuming or do I have to submit all documentation? Also how long after I have submitted these documents will I get a response from SARS, also my refund s...

My husband has an IRP5 from his employer and a income tax certificate from his medical aid. His work pays 50% of the medical aid and he pays 50%. But his 50% is deducted before he gets his wages. I am filling in a tax return for him and under Deductions on the IRP5 there are 3 amounts: codes 4003, 4005, 4474. I have filled that part in fine but the next page has Medical deductions from the taxpayer, there is a code 4040 to fill in, which I am not sure what to fill in. The amount on the medical a...

Good day, I have a very straight forward tax return: I have an income, I receive a monthly reimbursement towards medical expenses (my husbands company pays for my medical aid) This is added to my monthly income and taxed. I pay PAYE and UIF and my RA is deducted from my salary. I have never owed SARS money until this year. I cannot understand why I would owe SARS money now? It's a very small amount that SARS say I owe them, however I am sure there is a problem and would like to get to the bottom...

I have submitted tax returns for 2011, 2012 and 2013 to get it all up to date. 2013 was not audited and they owed me R3600. 2011 and 2012 I was also owed money, but had to submit supporting documents as they had doubled the medical aid amount for sum reason. The Status says the documents have been received but take up to 5 days to be assessed. Today I received a Refund of R600 and they took R3 000 as an Admin Penalty Fee. A bit extreme as I had received a letter saying the penalty fee would only...
