1. I am a salaried employee, I receive a travel allowance so I claim my business km's by using a logbook- but I would like to know whether I can also claim the depreciation on my vehicle even if I claim km's?
2. My wife was unemployed for 18 months, so I paid for her medical aid, she submitted a 0 return for herself, would just like to know whether I can claim the medical aid expenses on my tax return ( as I paid for it, but it is on her name). 3. I have a Samsung Tablet which I use 9...

I am a freelancer, and last year I spent 248 days out of SA, in three blocks (including one block of more than 60 days). During some of this time out of the country, I did some contract work - two jobs for two different foreign companies, and one job for a South African company. But I spent much of the time not actually working, but travelling/holidaying. Of the 248 days, only 97 were spent on work contracts. So I just want to clarify whether the income I earned on those three contract jobs is t...

I am a permanent salaried employee, I use my personal vehicle for business purposes, my company pays for my fuel, but I only recently started receiving a travel allowance, it has been worked into my current package so I don't get paid more it has just been incorporated into my salary package.
My question now is, will I be able to claim for the maintenance as per SARS calculation and my logbook? I have been using my vehicle since the start of the tax year, but as mentioned only starte...

I was permanently employed at my previous employer for 8 years. I am with my current employer for 10 months now and have been retrenched. I was fortunate enough to find employment beginning immediately after my retrenchment.
My current earnings are R12k and will be the same at my next employment. How do I go about claiming for a tax credit ( changing jobs makes me applicable from what I've researched)? How do I do my next tax returns with two employer tax certificates (I think it's c...

My RA allows me to make a top-up payment at any time.
Please can you tell me how to calculate the optimum lump sum amount I should pay into my RA in order to obtain the maximum tax advantage for the 2015 tax year?
I earn R60,000 per month before deductions and I should receive 2 more pay cheques before year end. My income for the tax year to date is R542,283.65 (Gross remuneration on latest pay slip). Therefore income for the year will be R662,283,65 as well as rental income of R55,000 coming to R717283,65....

Hi TimI filed my wife's tax return on 20/11/2014. SARS then requested supporting documentation which we provided. In mid December they issued us with a completion letter stating that they would not be amending our return but that they retain the right to do so in the future. This was followed up with a Statement of Account on December 24th. We are yet, however, to receive any refund from SARS. When I log onto e-filing, the status says "Return - data submitted to ITS"I am unsure ho...
