Good morning Tim, on the 1st of July I submitted my tax return via e-filing, on Friday the 3rd of July the status changed to assessed and a note saying that I should receive my assessment in my inbox within 2 weeks. I have not been select for an audit and am due a refund. I am an employed person and have no trouble doing my tax return with SARS e-filing. What I would like to know is the following: Since October 2013 I have been paying my Mom's medical aid, she is a 70 year old pensioner (state pension grant) and not registered for tax. She is not on my medical aid as it is more affordable to have a separate medical aid for her.

I need to please find out - I am on my fiancé's medical aid (he is the main member), should there be any excess to be paid on medication etc. We do not physically pay the cash but it is taken from his salary at the end of the month. The medical aid did send us a detailed certificate on each beneficiary - my question is now - Is he as the main member responsible to claim for all the beneficiaries as the excess was deducted from his salary??

I submitted my tax return via efiling on 01 July. I was as per usual selected for audit. I received an initial assessment and upon submitting my supporting documents they obviously decided to disallow some of my medical expenses.
They then issued a revised assessment which reflected R5500 lower owing to me. I called the call centre and was told that my file was finalised and I could expect a refund date by yesterday 06/07/15.
