I have submitted 3 tax returns this tax season for assessment (2010, 2011 and 2015). SARS had selected me for verification for the 2010 and 2011 assessment years and I have consequently submitted the required documents for review via SARS eFiling.
SARS has issued correspondence for the 2010 assessment year saying "We refer to the verification of your assessment for the 2010 tax period. Please note that no adjustment has been made to this assessment". They also issued an additional assessment (ITA34) for the 2011 assessment year and the initial amount due to me has not changed. ...

I am employed by the Department of Education (admin) and I get an additional amount from the School Governing Body for extra work done after hours and weekends. I pay 25% PAYE on this extra income.
However, I'm also doing debtors for a company on an online system as an independent contractor (20 hours per month) for which they do not deduct PAYE. I work at home and with no supervision. I have not registered this as any sort of business.

Hi. I submitted my tax return on the 2nd July and was told to submit supporting documents, which I uploaded the same day. On 14 July I received a completion letter stating:
"We refer to the verification of your assessment for the 2015 tax period. Please note that no adjustment has been made to this assessment. However, in terms of the Tax Administration Act the South African Revenue Service reserves the right to conduct further reviews in future if required. Should you have any queries please call the SARS Contact Centre on 0800 00 SARS (7277). Remember to have your ID number or income tax number at hand when you call to enable us to assist you promptly.
