I completed my SARS tax return. My IT34 said I was being paid an amount back. I then realised I had made a R40 error on my tax return for my laptop depreciation. So I amended on my tax return and re-submitted. My calculation then said I was receiving about R4 less than before. Once submitted I received an IT34 stating I had to pay SARS R4. Which is the correct IT34 now? I can't possibly lose all the money I was getting back for changing an amount by R40? I was also requested to submit the laptop...

Hi Tim, thanks for a wonderfully informative site.
On SARS eFilings my tax returns were different from that of what I have on my IRP5 mailed to me by my work, so I corrected it. Which came back as me owing R16000 to SARS so I disputed and loaded the original on, now it shows I'm entitled to a refund after R21000-16000.
I submitted documents as requested and I'm also for audit. My question is will they pick up that I made an error initially and not refund me for the entire amount...

Good day,
I have submitted my tax return and SARS owes me a refund. About 4 days has passed so I contacted SARS and asked them what the reason is why my refund is being held back, they told me it is because I have not submitted my 2012 tax return, so I did. After I submitted my return for 2012 as well, I contacted them again and inquired if there is anything else that they need from me in order for me to receive my refund and they said no that everything is in order and that there is ...

Hi,
Please can you perhaps give me some advice? I am busy doing my tax return now and only thinks of it now... I don't have a bank account anymore and my salary etc is getting paid into my Dad's account. What must I do and how must I make to claim it now?
My ID and passport got stolen and I first need to get them before I can open my own account again. Is there any way that SARS can pay the money into the account my salary gets paid to?
Please if you can give me ...

Good morning Tim, on the 1st of July I submitted my tax return via e-filing, on Friday the 3rd of July the status changed to assessed and a note saying that I should receive my assessment in my inbox within 2 weeks. I have not been select for an audit and am due a refund. I am an employed person and have no trouble doing my tax return with SARS e-filing. What I would like to know is the following: Since October 2013 I have been paying my Mom's medical aid, she is a 70 year old pensioner (state pension grant) and not registered for tax. She is not on my medical aid as it is more affordable to have a separate medical aid for her.
This year she received a tax certificate from her medical aid. Is there any way in which I can claim for her medical aid cont...

Hi there. The 2014-2015 tax year will be my second tax season as a self employed 'freelance' architect. Last year when I submitted my tax at SARS they said I do not need to register for provisional tax and that they would 'let me know when I needed to' so I just submitted a summary of my income and expenses to SARS at the normal tax time and they verified everything and all was ok. This year I am earning double what I did last year and feeling a bit concerned that I may have missed the magic line which crosses me over into a provisional tax payer? ...

I need to please find out - I am on my fiancé's medical aid (he is the main member), should there be any excess to be paid on medication etc. We do not physically pay the cash but it is taken from his salary at the end of the month. The medical aid did send us a detailed certificate on each beneficiary - my question is now - Is he as the main member responsible to claim for all the beneficiaries as the excess was deducted from his salary??
Second question - I went to see a ear specia...
