Why is SARS taking so long with my refund?

i sent in my tax return 1182104 they then asked me for supporting documents, I sent it within 15min after the sms was sent. How long does it normally take after this for an audit to be completed?

Hi TimAwesome forum here very informative.Well this is my saga, I submitted my return on the 1st July 14. On the 8th July 14 I got a letter saying that I've been selected for verification.I submitted supporting docs the same day.On the 4th August 14 I got a call from an auditor requesting further docs. I am self employed, I work as a contractor and I was recently told by my accountant to keep all my slips and I just confirmed with him that all my expenses are on my bank statements, as those are my proof of payments, I also enter the information into Pastel online, that lets me track my personal expenses, because those slips just end up fading, so I throw the slips away.

I filed my return on the 07th July 2014 via eFiling, immediately received my ITA34 and statement of account, I was requested to submit supporting docs immediately which I submitted on the 09th July via eFiling, I then received a call to resubmit these docs on the 21st July 2014, which I uploaded on the 24th July 2014 via eFiling. After submitting my return this year, I was requested to submit the supporting documents
My Original assessment state: -8076.00 (2 Adults and one child for 10 months and 2 Adults and 2 children for 2 months)
I received the completion letter one week after the completion letter with "no change was made on your assessment".
After 2 weeks from the date I received the completion letter, I received another request to submit supporting documents.

I submitted my return on the 3rd July 2014, and still have not received my refund, I was requested to submit supporting docs which I did, I even went to the branch to submit the documents on the 11th July 2014, every time I call their call center i'm being told its still being assessed? why so long? I have medical aid, do they actually call the medical schemes to verify information with them or what?

Can my wife claim medical expenses that we pay jointly on her return alone?

Both my wife and I are employed taxpayers. Her gross salary is in the order of 24000/month and mine is in the order of 34000/month as of January 1st of next year (it's slightly less at the moment). Our medical aid payment is about R1900/month. Last year, I didn't get any benefit for this on my tax return, since the total contributions were less than 7.5% of my salary. I'm referring to your post on the 6th of August regarding the delay in the refunds. I was selected for audit/verification and submitted supporting docs on the 2nd of July. The 3rd I received a letter of completion that stated that no adjustments will be made and that the verification has been completed. My original tax assessment was submitted on 29 July. SARS requested for supporting documentation and this was uploaded through eFiling on 30 July. On 6 August a document named "Statement of Account: Assessed Tax" was uploaded to my eFiling profile, but I have not received any notification or payment from SARS. Is my travel allowance too high for tax purposes?

Please help, I receive a fixed travel allowance of R9400pm (car R4400 fuel R5000) under code 3701 which is taxed at 80% by my employer. My cars value is 160K and I do approximately 45K a year (12-15K personal) I keep a logbook. Will this be regarded negatively by SARS and more importantly would I possibly have to pay in an amount?

What does it mean if my statement of account reads electronic refunds" showing a date for tomorrow? i.e. checked today, 15/08/2014 and electronic refund shows 16/08/2014. does it mean that my refund will reflect in my bank account tomorrow, 16/08/2014?

Could you please help me? I am registered on eFiling and received a ITR12 from my previous employer submitted on eFiling, I filled in all the details and submitted to SARS and was assessed and I received a refund. Now I received a IRP5 from my current employer but is not submitted on eFiling by them. Can I submit this IRP5 on eFiling and if so how do I do that?
