Can I claim expenses on bond and transfer fees on investment property?

  Written by Evan

My bond was registered for my investment property end April 2014. Please advise if I can claim under expenses incurred all of the bond and transfer fees amounting to R31,336. I called SARS contact centre and the lady advised that I am allowed to do so but from her tone of voice was not 100% certain. I have a reference number for the call whereby she agrees that I can claim as an expense. Please can you advise me as to what I should do?

Due for refund and changes of Banking details - how long does verification take?

And was advised to expect the money within 24 hours as said by the Lady from SARS. The following day I called the contact centre to check if banking details were changed and they told me that the banking details are in the process of been verified and that other supporting documentation might be requested from me and they told me that th...

Invalid codes 3713, 3801 and 3702 on IRP5

  Written by Evan

I did not receive a travel allowance, but on my IRP5 there is R25,000 with the code 3713. Any travel I did for the employer I claimed back as a reimbursed claim. Is the R25000 correct? Additionally, there are codes for 3801 and 3702 which I believe are incorrect. Can you clarify what these might be for?

I am a non South African passport holder and have been working in Johannesburg on work permit from January 2014 till June 2015. I have left the country in June 2015. Hello Tax Tim I work as an analyst full time; and in my free time I follow my passion for music and photography and take photos at festivals, clubs, pubs and other events. I have not registered a company yet, nor have I sold any images as I first want to ensure I set up my "business" and contract documents correctly so my clients and I are covered fairly and equally...

(7. 5% = - R 13,5 - R15000) - Can I claim the difference in expenses without being on medical aid? Thank you for your assistance in this regard.

PAYE deduction differs from tax tables

  Written by Evan

Hi, I have been looking at my PAYE Deductions from my employer and comparing them to the published PAYE Tables from SARS for each relevant year. I even tried to use your tax calculator which also gave the me the SARS Taxtable PAYE deduction amount. I have noticed that in the Payslips we get generated from Pastel Payroll, the PAYE deductions are roughly R150-R220 higher than the same Taxable salary deduction amount according to the SARS Tax table. I know 150 odd Rand doesn't seem like much but ov...

Correct PAYE deduction by employer

Hi Tax Tim, My gross salary is R7625. PAYE of R866 was being deducted from my salary for the 2015 tax year. I am aware that more was being deducted than necessary. Please advise what should have been deducted and how this will affect my tax return?

Two employers. Do I have to register as a provisional tax payer?

  Written by Evan

I receive an income from two employers. R10 000 from the one, who obviously deducts PAYE and R4500 from the other, who does not deduct PAYE, as the amount falls under the threshold.

Do I have to register as a provisional tax payer or can I register at the end of the year when assessments are due? I have never registered to file a tax return before, as my income has always been exempt from having to file tax returns. This will be my first time filing a tax return.
