I would like to understand the tax obligations, if any, for the following scenario and hope you will be able to assist with such. I am disabled and had to employ the services of a home based care worker to assit in my daily living activities/requirements. (since Jan 2015) According to my understanding, such is not deemed to be a formal employment and thus would not be taxable (same as domestic workers), but I just want to make sure. I have received a tax certificate from my previous employer. So this is my first time submiting to SARS. I received an sms stating that the amount due by me is R0,1 and I was selected for audit. On the certificate under 'income received' there is a substantial amount of over R50,000 under 'gross non-retirement fund income'. My question is what does that mean and will I be getting any thing.

I am a 49 year old UK citizen with a national health service pension and a private pension (SIPP). I am planning to emigrate to South Africa and (being married for 7 years to a South African Citizen) become a South African citizen. We plan to work and then retire in South Africa. As I will no longer be a UK resident my pensions will be paid gross of UK income tax. How will the lump sums and monthly payments be taxed in South Africa?

I incorporated a company in September 2014, it has never operated since then and never filed an annual/provisional tax return, now I am in need of a tax clearance, could you kindly advise if it is permissible to file the tax return with zeros now in 2015(end of February)depicting it as the 01 provisional payment given that the company never traded and never filed a return.

Tax refund problem - not receiving anything?

2014 Tax went through 3 verification and an audit, SARS then verified 2013. I received completion letters for both 2014 and 2013 (received 23 February 2015). To date they have not requested any further documents and there is still no refund. All other returns submitted and banking details are up to date in act verified last year. What could the problem be?

I am a housewife but am currently employed for the period of 4 months, earning R4000 pm. After this 4 month period I will be unemployed. My employer does not deduct PAYE. I have two questions about my situation. First, do I need to register as a tax payer and do a tax return?

Secondly, can I have my salary paid into a joint bank account that I share with my husband or will this implicate him on his tax return? Should I rather open up my own bank account?

I buy groceries and prepaid electricity every month for the company I work for then they refund me. Will this be an issue for SARS when I do my tax return? I spend about R50 000 odd a month.
