Hi
I just completed my tax return and my ITA34 (whatever it's called) showed an amount of R15 000 is refundable to me. Of course, SARS requested proof of documentation; I only uploaded my Retirement Tax Certificate and Medical Aid Tax Certificate - are there any other forms outstanding?
My question is: Why would I be (hopefully) receiving so much money? I started a new position (meaning higher salary and position upgrade) in September 2014 - could this have an impact?

Good day. I filled my tax via SARS e filing for 201 and it triggered an audit. I got a refund after providing the docs, then after a few days I decided to call the SARS call centre. The guy on the other side told me that I need to file for 2009 and 2011 and that I made a mistake and I filed for provisional tax. They fined me for R2900 interest, now I owe them according to the efilling at the SARS branch. They were not very helpful either, the lady told me I must jus...

I have submitted my 2015 tax on the 01 July 2015 on SARS eFiling and I had a refund of R2200.00 and now SARS told me that I have an outsanding tax return for 2006, however I request my tax return on SARS eFiling for FY 2006 its not populated with the figures even if I refresh my IT12. Also when I my IRP5 from my previous employee this the request I have got:
Tax law only requires us to keep IRP5's for 5 years. However, we have them saved electronically going back to 2008 so if we are able to help the contractor, we will of course do so at no charge, but unfortunately, the IRP5's from prior to 2008 have been archived and are stored offsite...

Last year all my outstanding previous years 2006 to 2014 was brought up to date via SARS eFiling and finally having to go into SARS to submit documents. After accumulative penalties deducted (R14k) and an audit I still managed to get a refund which was paid to me 15 July 2014 (11k).
This season 1 July 2015 I submitted my tax return, again I was selected for audit. SARS requested supporting docs which I submitted as per notification and I'm due a refund. Today I contacted SARS to inquire what the hold up was regarding my refund (R5k) and was informed that I owe SARS R4k which I have to settle first before I can receive my refund. ...

Hi,
I submitted my tax return for 2015 on the 3rd July 2015, was due to receive a refund. After a couple of days of no refund, I called the help desk - apparently I did not submit any tax returns for 2009 & 2010 (my job during that time did not pay enough to warrant a tax return).
Anyways I requested the 2009 and 2010 tax return.... The 2010 tax return had all my details and I promptly submitted it with no issues, however my 2009 tax return, instead of selecting save (was b...

Hi Tim;
I recently completed and sent my tax return via SARS eFiling. I was selected for auditing and asked to provide supporting documents. I have nothing complicated going-on: I earn income only from my employer. All my benefits and deductions with respect to retirement fund and medical aid are all reflected on my IRP5 i.e. I don't have a personal retirement annuity or medical aid scheme outside of those in my salary package; as reflected on my IRP5. So what could be the problem?

I'm being audited by SARS, they have asked me for bank statements and payslips. I do currently have a permanent job, but have a part time or side line job as well. The amounts I get paid to do the work is not a constant amount every month and some months has no income at all. These payments are either in cash or via eft which will be on my bank statements of course.
What would the impact on myself be from SARS? I complete my tax every year, but this is the first time I get asked to p...

I completed my SARS tax return. My IT34 said I was being paid an amount back. I then realised I had made a R40 error on my tax return for my laptop depreciation. So I amended on my tax return and re-submitted. My calculation then said I was receiving about R4 less than before. Once submitted I received an IT34 stating I had to pay SARS R4. Which is the correct IT34 now? I can't possibly lose all the money I was getting back for changing an amount by R40? I was also requested to submit the laptop...

Hi Tim, thanks for a wonderfully informative site.
On SARS eFilings my tax returns were different from that of what I have on my IRP5 mailed to me by my work, so I corrected it. Which came back as me owing R16000 to SARS so I disputed and loaded the original on, now it shows I'm entitled to a refund after R21000-16000.
I submitted documents as requested and I'm also for audit. My question is will they pick up that I made an error initially and not refund me for the entire amount...
