Who should claim the medical tax credit?

I would like to find out if it is better to let my medical aid be deducted from my salary or is it better for me to pay it with a debit order, which method will be more beneficial.

It will not make a difference, you will still receive the same tax benefit, just the timing of the benefit will be either now each month or when you do you actual return at the end of tax season.
