What is Personal Income Tax Assurance Audit?

Hi Tim,

I submitted my tax return on the 1st of July and got a letter to submit documents which I did and corrected a mistake that was in filling the return on the same day. I am not sure why but I received 2 letters and I decided to attach the documentation to the other one on the 17th. I have a refund due to me but every time I call the tell me I am still being audited. PIT Assurance Audit- what kind is that? I haven't heard anything from them asking for anything but they tell me they are busy what could be happening?

This is when SARS do a further audit of your documents to see if there is any extra error. The PIT stands for Personal Income Tax. Please read our blog on why you may have a delayed refund from SARS
