What is a SARS audit after I have submitted my ITR12?

i want to know when they say that your return is been audited why it has to be audited and how long will it take

SARS sometimes picks up differences between what you included on your return and the information they have on their records. Other times it is a purely random selection. Please read our blog on delayed refund from SARS to get a better understanding on the times frames for audit.
