Is it legal for a person helping with efiling to charge me a 20 percent fee?

There is no set charge for anyone assisting with tax return completion. It is up to you to consider what price you can afford and whether you trust the practitioner or not. Here at TaxTim we charge R149 if you pay upfront, or R199 if you pay at the end of the process :)
