Living in foreign country and SARS requests documents

SARS has requested proof of my husband's banking details AND documents to support the information given in his eFile. We now live in Canada and did our taxes online through the eFile system. 1. Where on the eFile system can I upload the documents they requested

2. Can my mother-in-law (who has legal power of attorney) take the banking details in on our behalf?

Thanks

If he goes into his SARS eFiling profile, and navigates to his tax return that he filed, there should be a link there which will allow you to upload supporting documents. If it is not there, you will need to call the SARS Helpdesk + (27) 0800 007 277 and request them to make this link available for you.

SARS should allow your mother-in-law to take the banking details on your behalf.
Just ensure she takes with her:

- the signed Power of Attorney which states she can submit records to SARS on your husband's behalf
- certified copy of your husband's ID
- certified copy of her own ID
- supporting documents for bank details as requested. Please ensure the bank statements are less than 3 months old and have original bank stamp on.

Good luck!
