How would an individuals tax be calculated if he/she earns a basic salary plus a commission per year

Does an individual taxpayer pay any PAYE on commission earned?

Yes you would pay PAYE, the commission would be subject to the normal tax tables that apply to a salary and would result in varying amounts of PAYE being deducted each month. IF you have overpaid, once you file your return, then you would be entitled to a tax refund.
