25% tax but under threshold

Hi Tim. I'm a freelance drama actor. I get paid around R3000 and am taxed at 25% each month. Do I get a percentage of my tax paid back, or all of it???

At R3 000, provided you earn no more income from any other source, you will get it all back as R3000 per month is under the annual tax threshold. However if you earn other income then you would need to see what your total income is for the year and see if you are due a refund based on the total amount.

Consult the SARS tax rates 2014 to see the annual threshold that applies.

Try our Tax refund calculator to see how much you will get back.
