Will my employer incorrectly stating a tax credit as a deduction on my IRP5 prevent me from claiming

I am worried that my employer intends to incorrectly insert the medical aid tax credit into my IRP5 as a deduction even though they do not deduct same from the monthly PAYE (I have asked them to in the past but they have declined to do so) - is their procedure correct or will this prevent me from claiming the tax credit on my return?

Do you privately pay for medical through your own bank account or is it paid via your employer as part of your salary?

Hi, it is paid privately through my own bank account. My employer makes no contribution towards this.

You can request your employer to do this and show it on your IRP5 and deduct the amount here, however then they cannot show this as income to you as well. It would be best for you to show the credit when you file your return and leave the employer out of it.
