Who registered me at SARS without notifiying me?

Two days ago I received a letter from SARS confirming me as a registered taxpayer. I only earn R10,000 per annum and I never registered at SARS as I know I don't qualify. My question is can a scheme register me with SARS without notifying me / my permission?

Your employer may have registered you as a taxpayer for their tax benefit. You don't qualify though and won't need to submit a return. Do you know who registered you? It can be done, but the taxpayer needs to be notified first.

I suggest checking with your employer if they registered you? Otherwise you could phone 0800 00 7277 to ask SARS to help you find out.
