Sorry, my fault in defining the enquiry. I am trying to determine details of SA tax due on lump sum payments from a UK pension self-invested pension plan (SIPP) that was built up during employment wholly in UK. The UK system allows up to 25% of fund at time of payment of lump sum to be tax-free. I have not yet taken this sum. SARS states that foreign pensions, unless partially arising from employment in SA, are not taxed in SA. Is this still valid, are there limitations, are the regulations due to change soon???

This is still valid, foreign pensions are tax free so you need not have to worry about this.
