What do I need to do to get a tax certificate?

Good Day,

I am uncertain if I am registered with SARS, on my IRP5 I have a 10 digit income tax ref number. I have been paying tax for the past 5 or 6 years but I have never submitted any thing to SARS. I urgently need a tax certificate. What do I need to do in order to get a tax clearance certificate?

You would need to file all the returns for the years in which you haven't before you can apply for a tax clearance certificate. If you are registered for eFiling you can do it there. If you want side-by-side assistance, you can use the TaxTim service for each year one at a time and then follow the easy instructions to submit your return. Tim guides you through the whole process and prompts you for the correct documents and what information to enter!

Alternatively if you take all your documentation into SARS they will be able to do it with you. This will take quite a few hours, especially at this time of the year as filing season closes.

Do you have any other income or make any Retirement Annuity Contributions or Medical Aid contributions other than what is on your IRP5?

Hello, thank you for the response.

Haven't been paying towards my R.A previously. My first contribution will be at the end of the month.

Thanks

The RAF contribution then will only come into affect for the next tax year so no need to worry about that just yet.
