Hi, I had to take my son to a dental specialist to have a check up on his jaws and teeth for braces, but had to pay R1554, which medical aid does not cover. Can I claim tax back on it?

Yes you can, however you need to hold onto the receipt as SARS might request proof of the R1554.

Thank you so much. Where and under what code can I add it?

If you are planning to file your tax return with us, the question will be under the out of pocket medical expenses section.
Should you be doing your tax return via SARS eFiling, you will complete it next to code 4020
