Tax Return for contract work?

I worked for a contract of 3 months was earning R20 000 per month TAX was deducted from my salary, is that possible? I wanna know if I can go to SARS & claim my money back. Thank You!

Yes, it is possible that tax was deducted as the deduction is based on earnings over a full year and this amount annualised would be over the tax threshold and thus would attract tax. Depending on your earnings level for the rest of the year (i.e if you did not work for some of it, or earned less than R20,000 per month) it is very likely that you can claim part of this money back.

In order to claim a tax refund, you need to complete a Tax Return to declare your earnings for the full year to see if you have overpaid SARS for the year.
