Surely I should get some medical tax relief for my medical aid contribution?

I earn around R640k per year. I paid R57 986 in medical contributions for the year and an extra R3406 out of pocket expenses too. I have myself and 4 dependants. It seems that I'm not getting any tax back for my medical expenditure which is really unfair

The additional medical deduction is based on a formula of any amount exceeding 7.5% of taxable income. You also need to take your tax credits and multiply by 4, the difference between that amount and what you spent overall plus your out of pocket expenses, if greater than the 7.5% of taxable income will be allowed as a further deduction. It's a very complicated formula and doesn't really favour the taxpayer at all.
