Is private studies to become a Pastor, whilst being in full time employ of an engineering firm, tax deductible? Is the tithes paid to my local church monthly, tax deductible, if so, what deduction code does this fall under?

Unfortunately your private studies is a personal expense which cannot be claimed as a deduction.

You can only deduct donations made to a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) - they must have an NPO or NPC number and they will provide a certificate with this number at the end of the tax year. You need to find out if your local church is a registered PBO in which case you could deduct this donation under S18A Donations on your tax return.
