I own a sport massage business. I am therapist/bookkeeper/secretary. What are my first steps towards tax payment and or refund? I earn R6000 per month.

Do you have anyone else working for you? Is the business registered or do you run it as a sole prop?

Hi Tax Tim,

no one else working for me. I run the business as a sole prop.

Thank you

And the R6 000 is after all your expenses have been paid?

No. Before expenses. I am not really making any profit yet.

For now you do not need to register as a provisional taxpayer as you are not earning enough. You will still need to file a return at year end. So for the period 1 March 2014 - 28 February 2015 you will file a return and include all the income and all the expenses, but luckily you will not have to pay tax yet.
