I immigrated from SA in 1997 and lived in Canada since - also became a Canadian Citizen
Now tax returning to SA as a resident - lost SA citizenship
Leaving all my wealth in Canada and remaining a Canadian Citizen
My wealth is invest on the TSX
Will buy a home in SA and transfer money as I need it
I will continue to pay taxes in Canada
Do I have to register in SA as a tax payer and pay tax on my Canadian income?

Are you going to be earning any income in SA? How long will you be here for?

We would like to retire and live in South Africa. We retired Dec 1, 2015
Canada has no issue with us tax returning to SA - we retain our Canadian citizenship, pension benefits and healthcare benefits (when in Canada)
We will not work - only income may come from a little interest from our bank account in SA due to a small credit balance

As time progresses we hope to become comfortable in SA and start moving our assets there and drawing income there if it all works well. Understanding of taxation and double taxation is the major issue preventing us from tax returning to SA.

If you intend to move back and live in South Africa then eventually you will become a tax resident again and then be taxed on your overall income earned around the world. Any pension you may receive however will not be subject to tax in South Africa and any income you do earn and is taxed on Canada will not be double taxed in SA, ie the Canadian tax will be offset against any South African tax payable.
