There are two ways in which your payroll department could use to work it out:

1. The bonus will be added to your salary and taxed per the tax tables at your marginal rate of tax or,

2. Tax is worked out as if there was no bonus and then worked out with bonus (both at an annual amount) and then the difference is the tax on bonus.
