"Refund Review" by SARS?

Tim, With reference to the blog posted by yourself : What?%u20AC%u2122s the delay with getting my SARS Refund? I would like to know what could typically flag this type of audit? The documents I submitted was nothing out of the ordinary and it has now been 2 months since I filed my return - the audit were concluded on the 8th of August 2014. If this is an automated tool why is the turnaround time 30-60 days?

Are you in the second phase of verification?

It is in the 2nd stage of verification since the 8th of August when I received the completion notification. Apparently my case is at SARS head office according to the call centre

The system which selects those for audit is automated, thereafter an actual assessor looks at each case which also adds to the delay. If it is at head office then it has been assigned to someone already which is much faster than most. Unfortunately you need to be patient, but you will be paid you refund.
