I was made redundant end of Jan 2015. On my package I paid tax on leave encashment. Will I get this back on my next tax claim?

It would depend on how your employer worked out the PAYE, but you can have a look at our Tax refund calculator to see if you are due a refund or not.

I am asking if it is standard practice to pay tax back because redundancy is a special circumstance.

Leave Pay is subject to PAYE yes, so tax would be paid. Depending on how your ex-employer calculated the PAYE at the time would determine if you are due a refund.
