Received a verification email from SARS - what does it mean?

I have received a statement of account but I have been selected for verification, how long does this process take?
i submitted supporting documents on the day my tax was submitted via e filing.

it is a rather simple return though as its only my salary and medical aid contributions that come into play.

It should take 30 days for the issue to be resolved, please make use of our article on why you may have a delayed refund from SARS

Thank you for your response.
what triggers the tax submission for verification? I apparently had my 2011 tax return outstanding and both 2014 as well as 2011 returns were selected for verification.

SARS triggers a verification when the amounts they have do not reflect what was submitted or it is random, older returns submitted now generally do trigger a verification due them being older.
