I am now an au pair. Dont know if I need to pay tax. I am getting a monthly salary of R7000. However if the family go on holiday I do not get paid. I also do not get paid on a specific day. Will be before or just after the last day of the month. What must I do?

The tax threshold is currently R75,000 per year so if you earn above this amount you should be paying tax.
Please see our SARS income tax calculator to see amount you should be paying.

Since your employer is not deducting PAYE from you, you should register as a Provisional taxpayer and pay tax twice a year on your estimated earnings.

Register for TaxTim and let us assist you to complete and submit your provisional tax return and tax return to SARS.
