Previous year IRP5 submitted accidentally

Hi,

I submitted my tax return for 2015 on the 3rd July 2015, was due to receive a refund. After a couple of days of no refund, I called the help desk - apparently I did not submit any tax returns for 2009 & 2010 (my job during that time did not pay enough to warrant a tax return).

Anyways I requested the 2009 and 2010 tax return.... The 2010 tax return had all my details and I promptly submitted it with no issues, however my 2009 tax return, instead of selecting save (was being called to a meeting) I clicked submit (no info entered on the tax return) which I do have the IRP5 for (with minimal info) - promptly received a letter for verification of assessment (submitted my IRP5 for 2009, today 09 July 2015) as that is all that I had/have for that year..

My question is, would SARS accept my IRP5 as a document that needed to be submitted despite no info on my tax return? Furthermore how long does it take for SARS to conclude their verification process?

Yes, submit that and they will accept it. Should take a further 21 working days for them to assess and then you will receive a Completion Letter stating the results of your assessment.

Thank you for the speedy response.
