Missing "Income Replacement Benefit" certificate - what do I do?

My employer completes my ITR12 and as I don't have any other claims or income, it is usually fine to be submitted as is. However, SARS says I owe them money. As I understand from our finance department, my employer never attached the "Tax certificate on income replacement benefits" that states that the employees does have access to a disability income benefit. They said that this is the reason I owe SARS money and once I submit the certificate I will owe SARS nothing. How do I explain to SARS my situation and how do I give them the certificate? I have managed to obtain the certificate from my employer.

Do you have access to your eFiling profile? I suggest Registering for SARS eFiling so that you can submit your return correctly. Let us know once you have registered and then we can assist.

Thanks for the quick response,

Yes I have access to my eFiling account and the form is already filled out by my employer. According to them I owe R459.34. I have disputed this amount and now they have sent me a notice of assessment, ITA34, where I can attach supporting documents and explain my claim. They however ask for details of a tax practitioner as well.

You can ignore entering in those details as you do not have a tax practitioner doing your return for you. You would need to click on the NOo at the bottom of the disputes page and enter in your details and what you are disputing and why and then under "documents for review" attach all the relevant documents.
