Medical Tax Credit - does same rule apply to non medical aid taxpayers?

Goodday, my question regards the Medical Tax Credit - everything I have read on it seems to apply to taxpayers that contribute to a medical aid scheme. Does the same rule apply for taxpayers who do not have a medical aid scheme but are trying to claim back medical expenses?

If you do not contribute to a medical aid then you are subject to the Tax deductions for Out of Pocket expenses rule. Please click the link and if you have any further questions feel free to ask.
